Talkeetna is known as a mountaineering town where thousands
have come to climb Mt. McKinley, which looms majestically in the
background. Cruisetours to this quaint town allow for plenty of time
to explore the area and get to know this beautiful corner of Alaska.

Talkeetna Sportfishing

Experience premier sportfishing in Talkeetna. Your fishing guide
will take you to the best fishing spots around. Anglers of all
levels will enjoy fishing for five species of salmon, Rainbow Trout,
Dolly Varden and Grayling. All gear is provided. Services
to pack and ship fish are available at an additional charge. An
Alaska state fishing license is required and can be purchased on
site.

Talkeetna River Raft Float Trip

fauna typical of this region. Weather permitting, views of Mt.

Talkeetna River is a glacially fed river, which offers the
opportunity to hear the glacial silt flour as it brushes along the

Devil's Canyon Tour

rock walls. For the hardy adventurer wishing to experience a
thrill on an Alaskan river, this is the tour for you. You will travel
several miles up river where you will experience steep canyon
walls that are both majestic and awe-inspiring, not to mention the
exciting rapids you will encounter. Stop at the shore for a
quarter-mile walk to an authentic trappers cabin complete with
rustic furnishings.

Wilderness Jetboat Tour

A jetboat ride, folklore, an authentic trapper's cabin, and a
panoramic view of Mt. McKinley (weather permitting) combine to
make this an interesting land and river outing. At the start of your
tour, you will board an enclosed jetboat designed to
navigate the river. Your guide will acquaint you with the wildflowers
and plants that grow in abundance along the river
system, while you learn about the unique river itself. Finally, you
will have the opportunity to step inside a typical trapper's
cabin and imagine life as a homesteader.
Note: Please dress warmly and wear comfortable walking shoes.

McKinley Flyer Tour

This flight takes you within six miles of Mt. McKinley's summit and
will certainly be the highlight of your tripto Alaska. Take
off and climb over the town site of Talkeetna. Moments later you
enter a world of rugged high mountain peaks and wide
glacier-filled valleys. Explore the south side of Mt. McKinley
(20,320 feet), Mt. Foraker (17,400 feet)and Mt. Hunter (14,573
feet). Fly over the winding Kahiltna Glacier, the longest glacier in
Denali National Park (45 miles long and 3 miles wide), and on
to the climber's Base Camp located at 7,200 feet on the southeast
fork of the Kahiltna Glacier. Look for climbers as they
traverse the glacier and make their way to the West Buttress (the
most popular climbing route for those attempting to summit
Mt. McKinley. Descend into the immense Don Sheldon
Amphitheater and follow the Ruth Glacier and the Great Gorge
before making your way back to Talkeetna.

Kennel Tour

From downtown Talkeetna you will be taken for a short drive to the
home of Gerald Sousa, a top 20 Iditarod musher. While at
the homestead you will have an opportunity to meet the dogs and
see a demonstration of sled dog harnessing and mushing.
Learn how our canine friends are put through a winter training
program in preparation for participating in sled dog races such
as the Iditarod held every year in March. You may also have the
opportunity to hold and play with potential champions, the
puppies. Hear stories from the trail and ask questions regarding
dog sledding that you may have always wondered about.

Talkeetna Lakes Hike

Take a Hike! Explore Talkeetna's best trail with a trained naturalist
guide. A new scene of beauty unfolds around every turn on
this three-mile moderate hike. Look for loons and Kingfishers on
the lakes, moose and other animals in the woods and Mt.
McKinley on the horizon. This lush old-growth forest is alive with
songbirds, wildflowers, berries, and mushrooms. This is a
great trip in any weather and a wonderful way to enjoy the great
Alaskan outdoors.

Three Rivers Tour

Take a relaxing trip on the Three Rivers of Talkeetna, Susitna, and
Chulitna. Be on the lookout for Bald Eagles and other
wildlife as you travel the three rivers. Your naturalist will explain the
difference between the three rivers as you traverse them.
You will do a 1/4 mile nature walk to the wilderness site where you
visit an authentic trapper's cabin with a fur display as well
as a Dena'ina Indian Encampment, the earliest known inhabitants
in this area. Once on the Chulitna you will be served a
refreshment as you travel into the beautiful Chulitna River Gorge.
