Chacchoben Mayan Ruins

Join your guide on this 4-hour narrated tour and experience the
ancient Mayan City of Chacchoben. Largely unexplored until
1999, the Mayan City of Chacchoben dates back from 360 A.D.
during which time it played an important role in the distribution
of such precious items as wood, jade and exotic birds. After
departing from Costa Maya, pass by lush tropical jungles en route
to Chacchoben, where you will have the opportunity to explore the
ruins and climb the stairs leading to the first plateau.
Complimentary beverages are included. This is the perfect tour for
the soft adventure-oriented traveler.
Note: The use of flash bulbs, tripods and professional video
cameras and equipment is prohibited at the ruins. The use of
personal cameras and home video cameras is permitted,
however guests will be required to pay a government user fee for
the use of video cameras, which at the time of printing was
approximately $10.00 USD.
Kohunlich Mayan Ruins

The Kohunlich Mayan Ruins are situated in a secluded jungle
setting near the border of Belize. Spread over a wide area, the
ruins encompass a broad scope of architectural styles, from the
wide lawns of the public centers and ball courts, to high
temples with great-sculpted masks of the city's rulers running up
each side of the front stairway. At the city's highest elevations are
the residential dwellings of the social elite, quiet spaces perched
above it all, overlooking miles of tropical jungle and lush hillsides.
The tour begins as you board an air-conditioned bus for a scenic
drive to Kohunlich ruins, during which time your bilingual guide will
give you an overview of the region and what you can expect to see
at the ruins. On arrival, your guide will escort you through this
breathtaking site complete with detailed Mayan temples and lush
green manicured gardens.
You will have a chance to see the Temple of the Large Masks, the
Plaza of the Acropolis, the Plaza of the Estelas, Plaza
Hundida, and Plaza Merwin, to name a few. Complimentary
beverages and a light snack will be provided.
Please Note: The use of flash bulbs, tripods, and professional
video cameras and equipment is prohibited at the ruins. The use
of home video cameras is permitted, however guests will be
required to pay a government user fee approximately $5 - 8 USD.
Please note that drive time to the ruins are 2 hours each way.
Jungle Beach Break

Beach Snorkel

Snorkel one of the newest dive and snorkel destinations on the
Mexican coast, Costa Maya. Once reserved for the most
ardent divers, it is now available for beginners and advanced
snorkelers alike. This tour was designed to give snorkelers an
easy entrance to the water while being able to see an abundance
of sea life at depths of between 3 to 20 feet of water.
The adventure begins when your tour operator greets you at the
pier and transports you to the beach. There you will receive
snorkel gear and your English speaking PADI Certified dive
guides will give you in-depth information and a safety briefing.
Your dive guide will assist you into the water and allow you to
progress as you feel comfortable. Experience the incredible
array of tropical marine life such as parrot, butterfly and angelfish,
and a possible glimpse of an eagle ray. After the snorkeling
portion of your tour, you will be given free time to enjoy the vast
stretches of virgin beaches before returning to the ship.
Complimentary beverage (1 bottle water) is included. Minimum

Bike & Clear Kayak Adventure

The perfect excursion for people who enjoy exercise and wish to
explore the pristine coast line of this new destination's
secluded white sand beaches by bike and kayak. Experience the
endless stretches of beach and local flavor as you ride and
kayak the coast on this exciting adventure. You will be given a
warm Mexican-style welcome as your guides meet you at the
pier for the orientation. After a brief description of what to expect on
the tour, as well as the rules of the road, you will be directed to the
bicycles waiting near the pier. The guides will assign safety gear
(helmets, pads and gloves), adjust the bikes to your comfort and
then it's time to mount up and begin the adventure. As you ride
south along the dirt road, you will pass a small mangrove lagoon
and breathtaking views of the coastline as you make your way to
the sleepy fishing village of Majahual.
See the real Mexico as it has been going on for hundreds of years
as you pass by traditional houses and restaurants. After a
leisurely ride, you will arrive at a local beach where your kayaks
will be waiting for you. After a short rest and a complimentary bottle
of water or soda, it will be time to get in your two-person kayaks
and head out to sea in the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean.
Paddle along a nearby reef and enjoy the view of beaches lined
with palm trees under the golden Caribbean sun. When you return
from kayaking, your bikes will be waiting for you on the beach. After
a brief rest, it's time to mount up for the return trip, which you will
be taking a different route through the local neighborhood where
you once again encounter the real Mexico. Bottled water will be
handed out as you journey back to your awaiting ship. Minimum
age: 12 years old. Maximum weight is 240 pounds.
Uvero Boat Blast & Snorkeling Adventure

Here is your chance to experience a new tour, one that is unique
and exclusive. The Boat Blast Adventure combines the small,
guest-piloted boat ride, snorkeling, and a chance to enjoy the
facilities at Uvero Beach. You will be taken by bus to Uvero,
where you will be given instructions on how to operate the 2
person boats, as well as a safety briefing. Once you are given
your life vests and snorkeling equipment, you will board your boats
and follow your guide outside of the marina. Arriving at a
site approximately 20 minutes later, your boat will be secured to a
platform. At this site you will be given snorkeling
instructions and about 45 minutes to snorkel.
Your small group will then take their boats back to Uvero Beach,
where you will have access to the non-motorized water sports and
the open bar. There are also showers and restrooms at Uvero
Beach that you will have complete access to. The return to the
vessel will be via a shuttle service. Note: The maximum age for
this tour is 50 years old.
No persons under the age of 18 will be allowed to participate on
this tour without being accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.
You must be 18 years of age to operate the boats (proof of age is
required). Don't forget to bring your swimsuit, sunscreen, towel,
hat, and sunglasses. Maximum weight is 180 pounds.
Kohunlich & Dzibanche Mayan Ruins Combo

Experience two exciting sites: the majestic pyramids and
manicured lawns at nearby Dzibanche, plus the ancient
multileveled Mayan city of Kohunlich, with its beautiful and
magnificent cahoon palms. Explore first-hand the ancient
dwellings that have been waiting centuries in the secluded
jungles near the border of Belize. These are two of the most
important archeological sites in the southern region which few
have had the opportunity to visit.
Sit back and relax as you enjoy the scenic drive to the ruins of
Dzibanche in the comforts of your air-conditioned bus. Hidden
within the jungle, the city of Dzibanche was one of the ruling cities
of the area and is known for its beautiful pottery and splendid
temples. Explore this ancient city that, until recently, has been
reserved for just a few hardy explorers to see the landscaped
grounds and jungle surroundings. Climb the tallest temple for a
breathtaking view of the surrounding area. See the Temple of the
Owls and the Temple of the Captives as you look for clues to this
lost civilization.
After your exploration of these beautiful ruins, the tour continues by
bus to the archeological site of Kohunlich. Named after the giant
cahoon palms that dwell in quantities throughout this immense
site, the ruins themselves are spread over a wide area and
encompass a broad scope of architectural styles from the wide
lawns of the public centers and ball courts, to high temples with
great, sculpted masks of the city's rulers running up each side of

By Mexican law, there is a fee of approximately $5.00 USD to $8.00
USD at the Mayan ruins sites for guests who bring video cameras.
This fee is not included in the price of the tour. It is recommended
that participants bring a bottle of water, and possibly bug spray
(often for the months of Aug - Nov) with them. Please wear
light clothing and sensible shoes as the visit to the ruins involves
a certain amount of walking over rough terrain.
Catamaran Sail & Snorkel

Sail the Caribbean waters with the sun on your back and the wind
in your face on this new tour in Costa Maya! This tour will
give you the opportunity to board a catamaran at the Fisherman's
Pier and sail along the virgin coast of Costa Maya on the
way to fun in the sun. You will be served ice cold drinks on the way
to the snorkel site and then dive into the Caribbean waters
in search of undersea life. After approximately 45 minutes of
snorkeling this virgin reef, you will sail back along the coast to
your starting point where you will have the option of staying in town
for a little while exploring or returning to the ship. Please
